We know the goals of creating Testimonials are in our heads. The thing is we don't really know how much time it's going to take to create those Testimonials. What is the amount of time, effort, and energy that you have to put into it, and what will the returns be?
I found that most people are lacking a system when it comes to Testimonials, and they’re lacking strategic thinking about it, too. They don't really understand the numbers when it comes to Testimonials. Not everyone will actually give you a Testimonial, so we want to know who will, and we want to position each of our clients to be expecting us to ask them for feedback.
It's our process for lead generation as well. I found that a lot of people are not using Testimonials effectively in marketing. They aren’t really using them as effectively in prospecting.
Don't you think that someone who loves what you're doing will give their Testimonial to 10 other people? We have to train our clients. We have to share our expectations of what we want for them and from them, and then we reward them for helping us. That's how a community is built.
You can use Testimonials for training and developing your staff. You can show how people can champion this so it becomes an internal process for you as well. Also, Testimonials provide that extra added value. It's what allows you to be unique in the marketplace.
Testimonials absolutely give us motivation. I enjoy getting a “Yes” for a Testimonial from a client as much as I enjoy having them make money.
